A friend of Husband's has a little girl who was born with hydrocephalus (I don't have an exact definition, but, it has to do with fluid, causing swelling, around the brain) and developmental delays. She was taken to the emergency room Monday night because she was non responsive and her eyes were bloodshot and very dry. When they first got to the hospital they could not get an IV started so they went to plan b. That involved drilling into a bone to get marrow (new procedure evidently). And that, also, did not work. From there she was flown to Riley's and was immediately put on a ventilator because she couldn't breathe on her own (and actually stopped breathing on the way down there). The doctors think that she has/had a UTI that spread through her body and caused a blood infection. She is going to be on a ventilator for a while and was given blood today because she has been throwing it up. And they were going to do a lumbar puncture today to make sure her shunt hasn't become infected. If it is that will mean another surgery to replace it. She is a little over a year old and has already gone through so much. Please pray for her and her family that they GET THROUGH THIS. They need as much support as they can get right now.
That is very sad! I really hope things improve for this family and little girl. I will definitely be thinking of them and sending positive thoughts their way.
ReplyDeletethis story certainly does prove a point to count your blessings doesn't it? ... of course i'll be thinking of this family and praying for them too :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad. I'll certainly keep them in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Give your girls a big hug for me tonight. They are two of my biggest blessings.
ReplyDeletePrayers go out to them. Yes, we should really count our blessings every day.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for sponsoring me for the March of Dimes yesterday. I didn't realize that was you until your mom mentioned it. I was trying to figure out who it was. Well, I walked the full 6 miles and couldn't believe I had it in me. Your mom was in inspiration and we walked together. At times I lagged a little behind, but I would look at her back and felt like the little engine that could...I think I can, I think I can. Thank you!
